The World’s Most Romantic Destinations

Are you madly in love, and searching for the perfect destination to jet off into the sunset?

Or maybe you’re happily single and looking to treat yourself to a one-person honeymoon?

In honor of Valentine’s Day, I put together a list of the best places I would recommend during the Season Of Love.

Which place would you journey to? Let me know in the comments below.

Santorini

You’ve seen the movies. Mamma Mia!, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, etc. The scenic surroundings were clearly the star of the show. Watching these films, I fantasized about spending a romantic, care-free summer there one day but thought it was too out of reach. Make your (aka my) dreams possible with a romantic stay in Santorini, Greece.

Top activities include luxury catamaran cruise sailing, ATV quad tours, and beautiful wineries to spend the day in. History buffs will especially appreciate this archaeological excavation site and ancient tours detailing thousands of years of Greeks’s past.

Bora Bora

It doesn’t get more luxurious than Bora Bora! Located in the South Pacific Sea, is the home of (hopefully) my future honeymoon location. In Bora Bora, it’s not so much about having a million activities complete off a travel cuket list, than it is about sharing time with the people and person you love.

The unbeatable scenery of French Polynesia will take your breath away! A few things to do while there include snorkeling, eating some of the best food in the world, and lounging around without a care in the world, of course.

Havana

Talk about a blast in the past! With recent travel regulations relaxed for American travelers, tourism in Cuba is beginning to pick up speed. Part of Havana’s allure is it’s nod to the 50’s which you can see in it’s cars, architecture, and lack of internet services. This is overwhelmingly due to decades of trade embargos, and has transformed into a charming attribute of Cuba, at least from many foreigner’s perspectives.

So what to do in such a curious place? Take in the history of the beautiful buildings around you, in Old Havana, and don’t miss out on the Plaza de la Revolucion featuring a steel Che Guevara Memorial. With a lack of distractions from your phone, you’ll have more time dedicated to the one you love.

Paris

No list about romance would be complete without a mention of Paris! But does it really live up to the hype?

Yes, Paris can be crowded and a little over-romanticized. But there is a reason why Paris is a top honeymoon destination. If you visit during the shoulder season and avoid the crowds, you are really in for a treat. Paris has a mixture of arguably the best cuisine in the world, impressive architecture, and a culture that encourages romance. If you are there for more than one day, dedicate at least an afternoon to (safely) get lost and explore without an official plan. Eat lunch in one of it’s many beautiful parks, admiring the iconic Eiffel Tower, and check out an intimate jazz club.

Buenos Aires

Buenos Aires, Argentina is a beautiful place to celebrate love. Often dubbed, “The Paris Of South America,” this sophisticated destination will delight all the senses. Tango is a popular dance in this country, so be sure to check out a show or, if you’re brave, take a class! Get lost in the beautiful streets and participate in a food tour, or take a beautiful excursion of the Tigre Delta. The flight may be long, but you and your partner are sure to agree that it’s worth the extra effort.

St. Lucia

A quick Caribbean getaway is all you’ll need to get the love back in your relationship. Of all the islands I have visited, this one has been the most lush and beautiful! The scenery alone is more than enough reason to visit. whether you love ATV tours, ziplining, or you just want to relax the day away on a boat, you’re sure to find an activity you’ll love to participate in together. The biggest natural attraction in St. Lucia are the pitons, which are beautiful cone-shaped mountains unless any you’ve probably laid eyes on.

Santa Barbara

It’s not a requirement to leave the country to experience romance. If you don’t have a passport, or only have a weekend to spare, give Santa Barbara a try! Nestled away from the congestion of Los Angeles to the south and San Francisco to the north, Santa Barbara offers a convenient, California-style getaway.

No Lover’s retreat to Santa Barbara is complete without a wine tour! Take a stroll, or a bike ride, among the beautiful centuries-old architecture at your own pace. If nature is your thing, sail down to nearby Channel Islands National Marine Sanctuary!

I hope that this short and helpful list has inspired you to that that well-deserved trip with your partner(s)…or maybe just yourself! If you had to choose, where would YOU go?? Let me know in the comments below! 🙂
